Instituto Superior Miguel Torga will, starting the new academic year, deliver part of its courses in new facilities in Coimbra's Baixa. This change represents a significant investment by the higher education institution in the historic area of the city.
The new facilities were made available by the Municipal Council of Coimbra, in a partnership between the local authority and the institute. This handover is part of a broader strategy to revitalize Coimbra's Baixa, which aims to economically and socially dynamize that area of the city.
The initiative comes in a context where several Portuguese cities have sought to bring new life to their historic centers, often affected by commercial and population decline. With the presence of students, ISMT hopes to contribute to the revitalization of local commerce and to increased foot traffic in that area of the city.
