The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, stated that the world "needs peace" when addressing the leaders of Russia and Iran, in a speech that aimed to appeal for the resolution of international conflicts.
In his speech, Guterres defended freedom of international navigation, emphasizing the importance of this principle for the stability of relations between States.
The UN chief also reaffirmed the need for respect for territorial integrity and political independence of States, under international law.
