A self-styled movement called "Blade Runners" has become the subject of controversy in Devon, England, after carrying out serial attacks against traffic lights on the main street of Ilfracombe. Images shared on social media show people associated with the group deliberately damaging traffic equipment, using tools to cut the wires connecting the devices to the traffic system. A video recording the action, showing a woman cutting the cables while a man assists her, has already accumulated over 120 thousand views online.
The group promotes an unusual conspiratorial theory, claiming that the sensors installed in traffic lights are actually "phased array electronic attack weapons." According to members of the movement, this technology would be responsible for causing serious health problems in the population, including heart attacks, brain cancer, anxiety, and even sudden death.
The content was published by the "Citizens Onpatrol" account on Facebook, which also shared additional records of the attacks. The group's notoriety skyrocketed after the video was released, generating debates about the risks of these actions and the spread of conspiratorial theories related to public equipment.
