Spanish writer Marta Sanz was the curator of the Spanish programming at the 28th International Book Biennial of São Paulo, which closes today. During her curatorial work, Sanz sought to establish connections between Spanish and Brazilian literature.
Sanz believes there are many possibilities for dialogue between the literature of Spain and Brazil. She points to Spanish authors who could connect with Brazilian writers, such as Begoña Méndez Seguí, who is a declared admirer of Clarice Lispector, and Bernardo Axtaga, whose work with landscapes could bring him close to Guimarães Rosa.
The curator also highlighted Carlos Zanon, who has rough language and an attentive gaze on urban violence, characteristics similar to those of Brazilian writer Rubem Fonseca. Marta Sanz also launched a book about menopause during the event.
