João Gomes dominated the Sunset Stage at Rock in Rio with a typically Pernambuco carnival procession. The audience crowded at the front of the stage waiting for the singer, who started the night with the Brazilian Orchestra, an all-stars band he assembled, playing the hit "Eu tenho a senha," with the stridency and weight of a rock guitar.
Dressed all in blue, João Gomes did a "Piseiro in Rio" as usual. He sang the cheerful "Deusa de Itamaracá" followed by the inevitable hit "Dengo," with everyone's arms raised, on a Saturday night.
With three accordion players at his disposal, forming an accordion orchestra, the singer also played "Aquelas coisas" in forró style. The show mixed forró and Pernambuco piseiro with rock elements, showcasing the artist's versatility.
