Céline Dion made a triumphant return to the stage this Saturday in Paris, after six years of absence. The 58-year-old French-Canadian singer performed in front of 30,000 spectators at the Plenitude Arena, a huge event space on the outskirts of the French capital, with sold-out tickets. This was her first full show in six years, marked by emotion and tears of joy.
The artist opened the performance with the 90s French ballad "On ne change pas" and, visibly moved, had to take a brief pause during the first song. "These are, of course, tears of joy. I'm very happy to see you," she told the audience, blowing kisses.
During the show, Dion spoke directly to the audience about her health condition. "There's something I can say in two words: I'm fine. I learned to live with this fragility; having it around for so long has tamed it, and I decided to turn it into strength to live," the star stated.
The artist revealed at the end of 2022 the diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, an incurable autoimmune disease of the neurological system that can cause muscle rigidity. This was the cause of her long absence from the stage, and the return represents a significant moment in her career.
