A 300-kilo piece of rail was found on the railway line where a train derailed on Friday in northern France. The discovery reinforces the hypothesis of malicious act as the cause of the accident.
The train was travelling between the cities of Rouen and Caen when it derailed, resulting in 44 injured. One person was seriously injured but out of danger.
The Public Prosecutor's Office has so far ruled out the hypothesis of malicious act, although the investigation continues to analyse the circumstances of the accident.
The piece of rail found on the railway line is considered the possible cause of the derailment, according to the ongoing investigation.
