"The hospitality of Ponte de Lima is immense"

Under scorching heat, the ethnographic procession of the Feiras Novas took place in the streets of the historic center of Ponte de Lima. Over more than three hours, 28 parishes of the municipality presented to the thousands of spectators a true living museum, with representations of agricultural activities, crafts, and customs of the oldest town in Portugal. The event showed the traditions and local culture in a dynamic and participatory way. The president of the Coordination Commission for Regional Development of the North, Álvaro Santos, was the guest of honor of the procession and seemed "enchanted" with what he witnessed. Álvaro Santos stated that "it is from these traditions that our region lives" and that he left "with a full heart" from the celebration. The official also emphasized "the genuineness of the people of Lima" and considered that "the hospitality of Ponte de Lima is immense," praising both the organization of the event and the way the local community welcomes visitors.
