Guto Miguel, a 17-year-old Brazilian tennis player, finished as runner-up at the US Open juniors this Saturday, in New York, United States. He was defeated by American Marcel Latak, of the same age, 2 sets to 1, with scores of 3/6, 7/5 and 7/6, after a very evenly contested tiebreak that ended at 15/13. The Brazilian had three match points during the match, but couldn't convert any of them to close out the victory.

Despite the defeat in the final, the Grand Slam season was extremely positive for Guto Miguel. He was champion in singles on the clay courts of Roland Garros, in Paris, France, and also won the doubles title alongside Slovenian Ziga Sesko on the grass courts of Wimbledon, in London, England.

After the match, Guto Miguel announced he was officially ending his career on the junior circuit. The Brazilian revealed he will begin the transition to professional tennis starting in 2027, when he will turn 18 in February.
