The national ecological restoration initiative D-EVOLUÇÃO, promoted by WWF Portugal with the main support of Lidl Portugal and in scientific-technical partnership with MARDIVE, achieved a new milestone in the preservation of marine biodiversity in the Tagus Estuary. The initiative installed and will monitor nine underwater shelters adapted from old shopping carts. The main objective of this action is to protect and support the seahorse population that inhabits this area of the estuary. The project combines the reuse of materials with the conservation of marine life, transforming everyday objects into artificial habitats for these species. D-EVOLUÇÃO thus represents a joint effort between environmental organizations, companies, and scientific institutions to promote the recovery of marine ecosystems in the region.
