In Portugal, drivers can check online if they have administrative proceedings, fines to pay or registered infractions through the Driver's Portal, available on the gov.pt website. This service allows access to information about the driving license, history of road administrative offenses, point balance and alerts about amounts still to be paid. To use the service it is necessary to authenticate with the Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card.
In addition to the Driver's Portal, there is also the Administrative Offenses Portal, managed by the National Road Safety Authority. On this portal it is possible to check road administrative proceedings and the driver's infraction record, called a registry. The portal also allows submitting requests such as defenses, installment payment requests and process consultation requests.
However, there is an important limitation to take into account. Minor parking administrative offenses committed from November 2018 onwards may not appear on these portals, and it is necessary to check directly with the municipality where the infraction occurred. Road crimes also follow a different treatment from simple administrative offenses.
All these services allow the driver to check their situation without needing to go to a service desk, concentrating in one single online location the information about alerts, proceedings or fines associated with the driving license.
