The president of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, said on Friday that the archipelago is "with open arms" to the return of the Azorean diaspora. This statement comes in the context of an event dedicated to welcoming emigrants who wish to return to the region.
Bolieiro highlighted that there are investment opportunities in various sectors, namely in tourism, the real estate market, the blue economy, and new technologies. These sectors are identified as areas with potential to receive the capital and knowledge brought by returning emigrants.
The regional government thus expresses its intention to attract back the Azoreans who emigrated over the decades, seeking to capitalize on the experience and financial resources that they can contribute to the economic development of the archipelago.
