The Boto Marinho bloc paraded this Saturday (12) on Paquetá Island, in the central region of Rio de Janeiro, even after residents requested the cancellation of the event from the Public Ministry of the State of Rio (MPRJ). The procession began in the morning, around 9am, amid discussions about the holding of the event and the lack of authorization pointed out by public agencies.
According to organizer Danilo Firmo, the bloc held the traditional tribute to Dona Florise, considered the "muse of the bloc." Dona Florise was a resident of Paquetá and died in 2024, ten days before turning 100. She used to watch the procession from the balcony of her house and received every year a tribute from the revelers, who played the song "Carinhoso" in front of her residence.
