A manager was dismissed after making 7,685 Internet accesses during working hours, in a period of just 25 days. The extreme extent of this usage was discovered through computer audits carried out by the company.
The audits allowed the tracking and quantification of all the worker's browsing activity during the period in question. The data revealed a usage pattern incompatible with the professional responsibilities associated with the manager position.
Dismissal was the consequence of this discovery, with the company using the evidence collected in the audits as the basis for the decision. The case illustrates the growing control companies have over the digital activity of their employees.
