Almeirim balances municipal taxes between liquidity and not overburdening families

SAPO Notícias12 September 2026 at 12:10

The Municipality of Almeirim decided to keep the IMI, IRS and DERRAMA rates for the year 2027 exactly the same as those currently in force. This decision was approved at a municipal executive meeting.

The municipal taxes will now be submitted for approval at a Municipal Assembly meeting, which is scheduled for the end of September. It is up to the municipal deputies to validate or change the proposal presented by the municipality.

The municipality justifies this maintenance of rates with the need to balance tax collection with the concern of not overburdening the families of the municipality. This approach aims to guarantee sufficient revenue for the functioning of municipal services without excessively penalizing local taxpayers.

Why this matters

Readers of Almeirim are directly affected because their municipal tax obligations will not change next year, with the IMI, IRS and Derrama rates being maintained. This municipal decision follows the executive meeting and precedes the final vote at the September Municipal Assembly.
