Education Minister Fernando Alexandre ordered an investigation into schools that refused student enrollments even having available vacancies. This decision comes in a context where hundreds of students continue to be unable to find a place in the educational system.
The situation reflects the persistent difficulties in student placement, particularly in certain areas of the country. The official expressed concern about the fact that there are schools with capacity to receive students, but that may have refused the enrollments.
The shortage of teachers worsens the problem, with the use of overtime remaining as the predominant solution. According to the data mentioned, between 80% to 90% of teachers currently work overtime to address the lack of professionals in the sector.
Fernando Alexandre warned that the situation requires urgent attention, both to guarantee the right to education for students without a place and to resolve the pressure on teachers who continue to fill the gaps in the system with supplementary work.
