The Intersindical Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese) revealed that the Teresina worker needs to work 93 hours to purchase a basic basket. The survey is part of the Gross Minimum Wage and Basic Basket program, which monitors the cost of essential foods in several Brazilian capitals.

Despite the 1.77% reduction in food prices recorded in August, the basic basket still compromised 46% of the net minimum wage. This means that almost half of workers' available income is destined exclusively for the purchase of basic food products.
