A civic protest against rising fuel prices, the cost of living and the tax burden took place this Saturday in the Aveiro area, with a slow-moving vehicle march between Santa Maria da Feira and Espinho, followed by a foot protest that ended near the prime minister's residence, Luís Montenegro.
The initiative began at 09:30, with gathering and departure from the car park next to the Volunteer Firefighters of Santa Maria da Feira. Participants proceeded in a slow-moving march along the bypass towards Arrifana, continued along the EN1 to the Rotunda do Picoto and then entered the A41 Motorway, in the direction of Espinho, as far as Largo da Feira in Espinho.
It was at Largo da Feira in Espinho that all vehicles were parked, thus ending the first part of the demonstration, carried out in slow march using the participants' own vehicles.
The march continued on foot along Rua 19 to Rua 8. However, the access road to Luís Montenegro's residence had been closed in advance, with the protesters remaining on protest just metres from the prime minister's house.
