A demonstration is scheduled in Faro for October 14, as part of a protest cycle announced by the Police Professionals Union Association (ASPP) and the Guard Professionals Association (APG/GNR). These representative structures of the PSP and GNR argue that promises regarding salary and career reviews remain unfulfilled.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) announced meetings for September 17 and 29, clarifying that the summons had been sent the previous day and that the scheduling was not a reaction to the protests, but rather the fulfillment of a planned calendar. The September 17 meeting aims to conclude negotiations on the special supplement for airport border control, while the September 29 meeting will address career restructuring and work time organization.
The associations denounce the non-compliance with the 2024 agreement, which increased the risk supplement by 300 euros, but which, according to them, has not yet resulted in salary, career, and evaluation system reviews. ASPP president Paulo Santos considered that the Government is trying to "buy more time" and defended that holding new meetings should not divert attention from the protests.
The protest calendar runs from September 22 to October 30, with actions already planned in Porto (September 24), Leiria (October 1), Lisbon (October 8), and Faro (October 14). The possibility of protests in other cities, including Coimbra and Guimarães, as well as in autonomous regions, remains open.
