A Federal Police investigation revealed that a partner of Go Up Entertainment, the company responsible for producing the Dark Horse film, refused to provide information to Brazilian authorities. Michael Davis sent a message to producer Karina Gama stating that, on instructions from his lawyers in the United States, corporate, accounting, tax, banking or contractual documents of the company should not be sent directly to Brazilian authorities.
According to Michael Davis, requests for information should be made exclusively through diplomatic channels and international legal cooperation, such as letters rogatory or mutual legal assistance requests. He argued that the delivery of any document should only occur upon order of an American judge.
The email was sent to Karina Ferreira da Gama on September 2nd, after she had received a summons from the Federal Police requesting information for the investigation. The exchange of messages is part of the inquiry into the Dark Horse film, which came to light when the secrecy of procedures related to the Master case was lifted.
