Santa Comba Dão presented the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan

Diário de Viseu12 September 2026 at 11:30

The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) of Santa Comba Dão was presented last Wednesday at the Municipal Auditorium. The different phases of this plan were showcased during the session.

The presentation was mainly intended for public participation, allowing citizens to learn about and give their opinions on the measures planned in the plan.

Santa Comba Dão is thus another Portuguese municipality to move forward with a sustainable mobility plan, at a time when several municipalities in the country have been investing in similar strategies to promote more ecological and efficient transportation.

Why this matters

Residents of Santa Comba Dão now have the opportunity to participate directly in defining the municipality's mobility policies, which can influence quality of life and local transport infrastructure. This session is part of a municipal public consultation process.

Sobral reinforces support to families in schools after demand increases by more than 50 percent

The municipality of Sobral de Monte Agraço reinforced support to families in schools for the new school year, after an increase of more than 50 percent in the demand for family support services in primary education. The council took over the direct management of these services after the departure of an external entity, which required an additional planning effort, complicated by the fact that more than 65 percent of registrations were made outside the deadline. In pre-school education it was possible to guarantee a place for all children, but in primary education waiting lists persist that the municipality intends to eliminate through the creation of additional groups and reinforcement of human resources. The school year also begins with interventions in schools and with the implementation, for the first time, of a school transport plan.
