Paulo Penteado, a Brazilian prosecutor and person of Portuguese descent, came to Portugal to participate in an International Congress on Legal Cooperation and Combating Transnational Crime. During his visit, he gave an interview to SOL where he warned about the dangers that the Brazilian criminal organization PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) represents for Portugal.
Penteado expressed concern about the presence of the PCC in Portuguese territory, considering that there are concrete reasons for Portugal to be alert to this threat. The Brazilian official underscored that the PCC mafia is an extremely dangerous organization and that its expansion to other countries represents a significant challenge for Portuguese authorities.
According to the prosecutor, there are only two effective ways to combat this criminal organization: through more investigation and with the application of more effective, harsher sentences. This message was conveyed in the context of the congress dedicated to international legal cooperation and combating transnational crime, where specialists from various countries debated strategies to face criminal networks that operate beyond borders.
