Benfica intends to renew contracts with several players in their squad, including Samuel Soares, Andreas Schjelderup, Gianluca Prestianni, and the 25-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. However, Trubin's renewal process is considered more difficult than that of Samuel Soares, mainly due to his current situation at the club.
Trubin was the undisputed starter in goal for the Eagles during the last three seasons, but the scenario has completely changed with the arrival of new manager Marco Silva. The Portuguese coach has been backing Samuel Soares, who recently assumed the starting role, relegating Trubin to a secondary position in the Eagles' goalkeeper hierarchy.
With a contract until 2028 and one of the highest salaries in the squad, Trubin has not been Marco Silva's choice, which makes the renewal negotiation more complex. The situation does not please the Ukrainian international, who lost his place precisely at a time when he is looking to establish himself as one of the main figures in goal for Benfica.
