Ernesto Alves Dias, a natural cooper from Paramos, celebrated 100 years of life. He was born on September 14, 1926, at a time when his youth took place during World War II.
Endowed with a good memory, Ernesto vividly recalls his 20s, when he enlisted to fulfill military service in Amadora, in the Portuguese Army. At that time, he received a salary of two escudos.
Among his most memorable experiences, Ernesto keeps in his memory the first plane that landed at the airfield of Paramos, a moment he witnessed during his youth.
Ernesto Alves Dias' centenary represents a century of stories and experiences, marked both by his activity as a cooper in the Paramos region and by the experiences lived throughout a century of changes in Portugal.
