Vitalino Canas, president of the Brazil-Europe Integration Forum (FIBE), told the Portuguese news agency that Portugal should position itself as Brazil's European platform in the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur.
According to the official, Portugal has unique advantages to assume this role, taking advantage of the historical, cultural and linguistic ties that the country maintains with Brazil.
The agreement between the EU and Mercosur recently entered into force, creating a new trade framework between the two blocs. Canas considers this a strategic opportunity for Portugal to strengthen its position in Euro-Brazilian relations.
The FIBE president highlighted that Portugal can serve as a bridge between Brazil and Europe, facilitating business and investment between the two regions through its geographic position and established bilateral relations.
