Portuguese exports of automotive components retreated 7.8% in the first seven months of the year. This figure represents a significant decline in a sector that has traditionally been one of the country's main export areas.

The Spanish market, which is traditionally the main destination for Portuguese automotive component exports, recorded a 9.8% decrease in sales. This decline particularly affects Portuguese industry, given the weight of the Spanish market in the sector's exports.

Germany, another important market for Portuguese components, also saw purchases decrease by 14.3%. This drop in the German market contributes significantly to the overall negative result of the sector's exports in the period under analysis.

About 95% of natural gas imported by Portugal in 2025 arrived through the Sines terminal, with Nigeria (50%), the United States (43%) and Russia (7%) as the main countries of origin, according to a report by ERSE. Forty-six LNG carrier unloadings were carried out at the terminal, seven fewer than in 2024, and 7,546 tankers were supplied. Portugal intends to end Russian LNG imports by early 2027, under European rules, with only one long-term contract with the Spanish company Naturgy. The remaining 5% of gas entered via pipeline through the connections with the Spanish network. The ERSE report also concludes that there was an overall improvement in the performance of gas networks in 2025, with a reduction in the number and duration of supply interruptions.
