Is there a metalhead on k-pop day at Rock in Rio? There sure is, sir. And they are represented by the parents of many young Stray Kids fans, headliner of this Friday at the festival. Marcos Vinícius Rodrigues, 63 years old, was walking around Rock City with a Kiss shirt alongside his daughter, who was wearing a white dress and pink hair. He said he was feeling out of place, but said he came with that outfit to "go all out" and show "these kids what rock is". Marcos is from Roraima and was at his first Rock in Rio, but it wasn't his first time seeing Stray Kids.
Lawyer Márcio Bahia, 51 years old, was also making his Rock in Rio debut this Friday. He is from Vitória da Conquista, in Bahia, and was accompanied by his daughter Luana Bahia, 12 years old. Márcio was also wearing a metalhead shirt, specifically Sepultura, keeping the rock style even on the day dedicated to k-pop. All for his daughter, who is a fan of the South Korean band.
Luana Bahia, 12 years old, was wearing a soccer-style jersey, a reference to the album "Karma", released by Stray Kids. She has been following the band for some time, since Marcos and his family saw Stray Kids in April of last year, at Engenhão, in Rio de Janeiro. The support of metalhead parents for their k-pop fan daughters shows how Rock in Rio has become a diverse space, bringing together different musical styles and generations.
