Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues sent a statement to the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Edson Fachin, on Friday (11), denying that the corporation illegally monitored Minister André Mendonça or Attorney General Jorge Messias. The response was sent within the 48-hour deadline set by Fachin to provide information on the case.
According to Andrei Rodrigues, the questioned reports are regular intelligence analyses and did not result from surveillance actions, clandestine data collection, or any invasive measure. The director-general stated that the documents were produced from information and institutional interactions known to the officers in the exercise of their duties.
Andrei Rodrigues declared that there was absolutely no illicit monitoring of a Supreme Court minister, nor of the attorney general. Fachin also gave 24 hours for Mendonça to lift the secrecy classification on all documents related to the case. The PF opened press accreditation for a session on the case, with ministers divided on access to the information.
