The trial of two agents of the Public Security Police (PSP) began this Monday at the Lisbon Court. The two defendants are suspected of crimes of torture and rape committed at the Rato police station, in Lisbon.
The Public Prosecutor's Office, which filed the indictment, revealed that the agents selected especially vulnerable targets to commit the crimes. The victims were chosen because they were people in a situation of greater vulnerability.
According to the indictment, on several occasions a police baton was used to rape the victims. The crimes allegedly occurred while performing duties at the Rato police station.
The two agents have been committed for trial on charges of torture and rape, facing a trial taking place at the Lisbon Court.
