José Guilherme Park, in Paredes, hosts on Sunday, September 20, the initiative "Countries and Traditions," an event dedicated to the cultural diversity of the municipality. Promoted by the local authority under the Paredes Plural project, the gathering runs from 10:00 to 20:00 and includes gastronomy, handicrafts, music, and traditions from different communities.
The program features an intercultural market with approximately 15 exhibitors, presenting handicrafts and traditional products from Portugal, Brazil, Angola, and Mozambique. The venue also has a gastronomic socializing area, a children's space, and an intercultural stage.
The event includes cultural demonstrations throughout the day, such as capoeira at 11:00 by the Capoeira and Martial Arts Association of Póvoa de Varzim, the Regional Folk Dance of Paredes at 15:30, Jo Bala with African music at 16:00, and Josefina Fuentes with Latin American music at 17:00.
The initiative aims to bring together migrant communities, associations, local entities, and economic agents, promoting sharing between cultures. The Paredes Plural project is funded by the FAMI2030 program, which aims to promote the integration and social inclusion of nationals of third countries and strengthen legal migration.
