The municipality of Guimarães sought new cooperation opportunities with Argentina during a meeting that served to deepen the institutional relations between the two territories. Among the topics discussed was the resumption of the twinning process between Guimarães and Tucumán, initiated in 2023, with the aim of continuing the rapprochement between the two regions.
The cooperation could extend to other Argentine cities and different sectors considered strategic for the municipality. The areas identified as potential points of connection include technology and innovation, scientific research, higher education, industry, business relations, culture and tourism.
During the meeting, possibilities for collaboration between knowledge institutions and companies from both countries were also explored, namely in areas related to aerospace technologies and Earth observation. In the cultural field, Guimarães could be present at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair, which would reinforce the dissemination of the city in the international cultural landscape.
Ricardo Araújo considered that the contact with Argentina represents an opportunity to transform international relations into concrete projects. The mayor believes that strengthening these ties could contribute to creating new opportunities in the areas of knowledge, innovation and economic and cultural cooperation.
