Datafolha in Pernambuco: Raquel Lyra scores 47%, while João Campos has 42%

oglobo11 September 2026 at 21:10

Governor Raquel Lyra (PSD) appears ahead of former Recife mayor João Campos (PSB) in the race for the executive office of Pernambuco, according to a Datafolha survey released this Friday. Lyra scores 47% of voting intentions in the first round, while Campos has 42%.

The scenario is one of stability, with a negative oscillation for Campos within the three percentage point margin of error, compared to the August survey. Last month, Lyra appeared with 47% and Campos with 40%, which means the difference between the candidates remains the same, within the margin of error.

The other candidates show very low voting intentions: Ivan Moraes (PSOL) has 1%, as does Renan Hallais (Missão), Professora Camila (UP) with 1%, while Guilherme Fonseca (PSTU), Professora Jeremias do Banco (Democrata), and Victor Assis (PCO) appear with 0%. A portion of voters still declare they will vote blank, null, or don't know who to vote for.

Montenegro says school "lost quality". But solutions...

Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stated in Setúbal that the Portuguese school has lost quality and rigor in recent years, supporting the diagnosis with the PISA 2025 results, and announced a 170 million euro package to modernize 35 schools in the Setúbal Peninsula, funded by the EIB, as well as 500 euro monthly incentives to attract 600 teachers to the region. However, experts warn that the measures lack legislative scheduling, that execution depends on annual budget allocation in the State Budget, and that structural reforms require parliamentary approval, while the restriction on mobile phone use remains without a defined regime. Montenegro's discourse softened within 48 hours, no longer attributing blame exclusively to previous governments, although experts dispute the use of PISA as a curriculum assessment, emphasizing that results depend on socioeconomic variables and that improving skills takes about a decade to produce effects.
