Nuno Maciel defends Casas do Povo as "living structures" of communities

The regional secretary of Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, defended this Friday the importance of Casas do Povo in social cohesion and in meeting the needs of populations, considering these institutions "living structures" and deeply rooted in communities.

The statement was made during the inauguration of the new governing bodies of the Casa do Povo da Calheta, for the term 2026-2029.

The ceremony took place on National Casas do Povo Day, a date that marks the importance of these institutions for local communities.

Nuno Maciel emphasized that a strong society is built through these structures that serve the populations, reinforcing the fundamental role of Casas do Povo in regional social development.
