Quercus expressed support for the Government's study on water supply, considering it a "strategic and prudent solution". The environmental organization recognizes the potential of this measure to strengthen the region's water security.
According to Quercus, the study could contribute to diversifying water supply sources, increasing system resilience in situations of need. The organization states that this diversification is important for dealing with drought periods, technical failures or other supply disruptions.
Quercus also mentions the likely limitations that will affect the largest Aquifer on the Iberian Peninsula, resulting from the impacts of climate change in the Setúbal region in the coming years. This concern with the effects of climate change on groundwater availability justifies, for the organization, the need to explore new supply sources.
