Jornal O Interior11 September 2026 at 16:00

João Morgado presented the work "Cemitério dos Pardais" at BMEL, in a session that featured the author's presence. The book was published by Ego Editora and was distinguished with the Santos Stockler 2024 Literary Prize.

The novel follows an 88-year-old man who lives alone and is almost blind, trapped in his memories while waiting for a phone call. This call may be from his granddaughter, son, a friend or even God, revealing the isolation and loneliness of the main character.

The work constitutes a reflection on themes such as aging, memory and the search for human connection in moments of vulnerability.

CADERNOS DO ORIENTE – WHEN PAINTING SAYS GOODBYE: «QUARENTENA» ENTERS ITS FINAL HOUR AT CASA GARDEN

The "Quarentena" exhibition by Carlos Morais José, which crosses painting and poetry at Casa Garden — Fundação Oriente in Macau, holds its closing session on September 12, 2026, at 4:30 PM, with a final conversation with the author in the Lower Gallery. The exhibition, inspired by Morais José's poetry, explores the relationship between pictorial matter and literary dimension, proposing a territory where image and word approach one another without one illustrating the other. The title evokes suspension, retreat, and transformation, summoning a reflection on isolation and interiority. For those who have not yet visited the exhibition, this session represents the last opportunity to discover the work and participate in dialogue with the artist.
