Lisbon hosts conference on mobility and Digital Twins

Lisbon hosts on September 24 and 25 the "Mobility & Digital Twins" conference, at NOVA IMS Information Management School. The event will explore how cities can transform mobility data into better decisions, how Digital Twins can help anticipate climate risks and how data can contribute to planning the transition to zero-emission urban logistics. The first day is dedicated to technical visits related to mobility in Lisbon, including to the Lisbon Municipal Civil Protection Service, to Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa, to the Port of Lisbon Administration and to NOVA Cidade Urban Analytics.

The second day includes three main panels. The first panel addresses how Digital Twin technologies can transform data into tools for testing policies and supporting urban mobility management, with the participation of Ulrich Leopold, David Pera, Candela Pelliza and a representative from TML. The second panel discusses the role of Digital Twins in preparing for climate risks, featuring Yigeong Oh from the United Nations, Katerina Delis from CINEA, Aysema Alim from the European Commission, Micael Sousa from CAPTRS, Peter Torstensson from the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, and Ian Catlow. The third panel focuses on the transition to zero-emission urban logistics, with the participation of Bernardo Pereira from Lisboa E-Nova, Paulo Costa Reis from Sonae MC, Ulrich Leopold and João Bernardino, moderated by Raffaele Vergnani from POLIS Network.

The conference is co-organized by POLIS Network and Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa, with the support of several entities, including the Lisbon City Council, the Municipalities of Cascais and Oeiras, Metropolitano de Lisboa, Carris, CP - Comboios de Portugal, Transtejo Soflusa, EMEL, Parques Tejo, Lisboa E-Nova, the Port of Lisbon Administration and NOVAe. The conclusions will be presented by Pedro Homem de Gouveia, senior consultant at POLIS Network.

In parallel, between September 23 and 25, "Hack the City: Mobility Challenge" takes place, a 48-hour hackathon that challenges students, programmers, designers, researchers and other participants to develop solutions for real urban mobility challenges. Six thousand euros in prizes will be awarded to the top three winners. Registrations for the conference and the hackathon are open.
