The Granfondo Serra d'Ossa holds its fourth edition on October 3rd and 4th, uniting five municipalities in Alentejo around the Serra d'Ossa. Alandroal assumes this year the start and finish of the race, which also includes the participation of Borba, Estremoz, Redondo and Vila Viçosa. The organization expects to receive 1,600 athletes and around 2,500 companions, representing 33 different nationalities.

The cyclists will be able to choose between three routes: Minifondo with 60.8 kilometres, Mediofondo with 108.3 kilometres and Granfondo with 143.9 kilometres. The start is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Sunday, October 4th, in Alandroal. The day before features the Granfondinho, free and aimed at children, as well as a walk and other family activities.

The five municipal mayors highlighted to Alentrium.pt the economic impact of the race and the importance of intermunicipal cooperation. João Grilo, mayor of Alandroal, stated that the union of municipalities allowed consolidating an initiative of great magnitude. Pedro Esteves, from Borba, argued that only together is it possible to better promote the region. David Galego, from Redondo, pointed to 2027 as the year when his municipality should host the race, closing the first organizational cycle.

The cooperation between the five municipalities has extended to other projects, namely the Portuguese City of Wine and the project of the viewpoints of Serra d'Ossa. José Sádio, mayor of Estremoz, considered that the presence of foreign participants helps place the territory on the international map. The Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo is a partner of the initiative, which combines sport with tourism promotion of the region.
