The Municipal Council of Famalicão is preparing to proceed with maintenance and requalification work on public space on Rua João Faria dos Guimarães. The work begins on Monday, September 14, just days after two reports by the Jornal Opinião Pública and FAMA Rádio e Televisão gave voice to the dissatisfaction of local traders regarding the degradation of urban space, namely with loose stones and unstable pavement.
The intervention period runs between September 14 and October 3, contemplating the execution of the work and the necessary curing time of the applied materials, in order to guarantee the appropriate conditions of resistance, stability and durability of the pavement. The municipality states in a communiqué that these are improvement and rehabilitation actions of public space, aimed at improving the conditions of use, safety and functionality.
During the work, a specific area for loading and unloading will be made available at the Parking Lot D. Maria II, located next to the access ramp to Rua João Faria dos Guimarães. Access to Alameda D. Maria II will also be altered, with the entrance at the north end being ensured through Rua Vasconcelos e Castro.
Access to the city center by car will be affected, with pedestrian access being ensured during the intervention period. The municipality acknowledges that complicated times lie ahead for those who wish to access the city center by car.
