Prime Minister Luís Montenegro recognized today, in Setúbal, that education in Portugal has lost quality and rigor in recent years. This declaration was made during the national opening ceremony of the 2026/2027 school year.
The ceremony took place at the Barbosa du Bocage School Center, which was inaugurated today in this city. Montenegro stated that the loss of quality in education is directly related to the reduction in rigor in recent years.
The prime minister assured that the Government is adopting measures to reverse the negative results of student learning. The objective is to reverse the scenario of decline in the quality of Portuguese education.
