Four men, aged between 51 and 74, were arrested in the act by the Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) of the GNR in Matosinhos. The arrest occurred this Thursday, September 10, during an environmental inspection operation that surprised the suspects practicing hunting activity in an area where it is prohibited.

The military personnel found the four men engaging in hunting activity on non-hunting grounds, specifically in protected areas. During the intervention, four hunting weapons, four hunter's licenses, four weapon registration booklets, and various ammunition were seized.

The arrested individuals were made suspects and the facts were referred to the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Matosinhos. The GNR emphasized that compliance with authorized hunting areas and periods is essential for the protection of fauna and for the balance of ecosystems, also warning about the risks that this practice represents for biodiversity and public safety.
