A man suspected of shooting and killing Josué Maia, 24 years old, known as "Boxista" (the Boxer), was acquitted at a trial held in June. The crime occurred in May of the previous year, when the suspect and the victim were involved in a brawl at a bar on Rua Escura, in Porto.
The acquittal of the defendant generated great outrage in the victim's family, who demand justice for the homicide. The relatives expressed their indignation with the outcome of the judicial process and do not accept that the case go unpunished.
Josué Maia was 24 years old and was known in the region by the nickname "Boxista" (the Boxer). The incident on Rua Escura allegedly started as a discussion that rapidly escalated to the fatal shot that killed the young man.
