Queen Letizia will return next Thursday to the public school La Gesta in Oviedo to preside over the official ceremony for the opening of the school year for Infant and Primary Education. This visit marks the monarch's return to one of the scenes of her childhood, as she studied at this center for seven courses, between 1980 and 1986.
The Royal House deliberately chose this educational establishment for the traditional Opening of the school year, given the strong link the center has with Doña Letizia's biography. The queen was born in the Asturian capital and attended La Gesta school from the second to the eighth year of the old General Basic Education (EGB).
The presence of the monarch in this ceremony gives the event a marked Ovetense character, reinforcing the personal bond between the queen and her birth city. This is not the first time Letizia has visited her former school since she ascended to the throne, thus maintaining a close relationship with her roots.
