More than 1,000 students receive support to purchase activity books

Alto Minho TV11 September 2026 at 15:40

The Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira will provide vouchers for the purchase of activity books to approximately one thousand students, from 1st to 12th grade. The measure represents a municipal investment exceeding 60 thousand euros and aims to reduce family expenses at the start of the new school year.

The announcement was made by the Councillor for Education, Sónia Guerreiro, during the official reception for teaching and non-teaching staff of the municipality, which marked the beginning of the 2026/2027 school year. The vouchers can be used at local participating stationery shops until the end of September, upon presentation of the document assigned to each student.

The council states that the initiative is part of a local educational policy, aimed at promoting equal opportunities and academic success, seeking to ensure that children and young people have the necessary resources to start the school year.

With this support, the Municipality also aims to strengthen assistance to families in Cerveira and maintain investment in education as one of the priorities of municipal policy.
