Nivaldo da Batata: SC police investigate death of councilman hit by one ton of the tuber

Santa Catarina Civil Police investigate the death of councilman Nivaldo Magagnin, known as Nivaldo da Batata, from the municipality of Treze de Maio. The politician died on the morning of this Wednesday (9) after being hit by a one-ton load of potatoes in the Santa Cruz neighborhood. The initial suspicion is that a steel cable supporting the load broke, causing the accident.

In addition to being a councilman for MDB, Nivaldo da Batata owned a potato trading and processing company. He was working at the site where the accident occurred. The politician died one day after turning 63.

The Civil Police informed g1 that the case is being investigated as a workplace accident. The exact cause of death has yet to be determined after the conclusion of the autopsy and technical forensics at the incident site.
