Branding with 3,200 years? Archaeologists discover one of the first 'brands' in history in the Arabian desert

SAPO Notícias11 September 2026 at 14:31

Archaeologists discovered evidence of one of the first 'brands' in history in the Arabian desert, approximately 3,200 years old. The discovery challenges the notion that branding is a modern concept, since long before marketing or capitalist economy existed, there were already products with their own identity, reputation, and demand.

An international study identified characteristics in the ceramics produced at the Qurayyah oasis that allow us to speak of one of the first known brands. The archaeologists found consistent and distinctive patterns in the production that indicated recognizable origin and quality.
