Prison guards wait a month for Government promises

Prison guards have been waiting for about a month for the fulfillment of promises made by the Ministry of Justice. The ministry assured the union representing the profession that the main demands of the guards depend solely on funds from the Ministry of Finance.

Negotiations between the union and the Ministry of Justice have proceeded without concrete progress. Prison guards demand better working conditions, including salary increases and improvements in prison working conditions.

The Ministry of Justice confirmed that the main demands of the guards require budgetary approval from the Ministry of Finance. This financial dependency has been the main barrier to resolving the conflict.

Prison guards threaten to take pressure measures if the Government's promises are not fulfilled soon. The situation in Portuguese prisons remains tense, with professionals demanding concrete responses regarding their demands.
