INEM strike called off after agreement with Ministry of Health

The strike by INEM emergency medical technicians, which was scheduled for September 14 and 28, was called off after an agreement was reached between the parties. The strike was planned and caused concern regarding the impact on emergency medical services in Portugal.

The agreement was made possible thanks to the intervention of the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, who decided to make a final effort to avoid the INEM shutdown. The minister brought all parties involved together this morning at the Ministry of Health to negotiate a solution.

During the meeting, working conditions and the demands of the emergency medical technicians that were the basis for the strike call were discussed. The result of the negotiations was positive, leading to the abandonment of the strike.

With the cancellation of the strike, INEM's emergency medical services should operate normally on the days initially planned for the stoppage.
