Thirteen animals were rescued from a situation of severe neglect in the municipality of Ílhavo, in the district of Aveiro. The rescue operation was carried out by the Guarda Nacional Republicana, which identified the deplorable conditions in which the animals were found.
The animals were found in Gafanha da Encarnação, one of the parishes of the municipality of Ílhavo. The authorities proceeded with the rescue of the animals after becoming aware of the neglect situation.
In total, four dogs and nine cats were rescued, making thirteen animals that needed urgent assistance. The animals were found in very poor hygiene conditions, showing a picture of severe neglect on the part of their caregivers.
The competent authorities were responsible for ensuring the necessary care for the rescued animals, which were removed from the location where they were found in a state of abandonment.
