The opposition parties in the Castelló City Council, PSOE and Compromís, lamented that Mayor Begoña Carrasco has converted the city's distinctions into particular and partisan awards. The criticism arises after it was not possible to reach municipal consensus on these distinctions. The spokesperson of the municipal group of PSOE, Patricia Puerta, and the spokesperson of the municipal group of Compromís, Ignasi Garcia, were responsible for publicly denouncing this situation. The mayor from the Popular Party was accused of using these recognitions for her own political purposes, instead of maintaining the institutional character that these municipal distinctions should have.
