The high-speed vessel was not carrying narcotics at the time it was discovered. According to Fernando Pereira, the local harbour master and commander of Caminha's Maritime Police, the speedboat has no registration and is typically associated with drug trafficking.
The investigation is being carried out by the Judicial Police, with the inquiry having been forwarded to this force. The vessel was placed under the custody of the local command of Caminha's Maritime Police.
Efforts are being made, together with the Municipal Council of Caminha, to proceed with the removal of the speedboat from the sand of Moledo beach.
